Planning an Austin Bachelor Party on a Lake Austin Boat

A private captained charter on Lake Austin works well for a bachelor party of up to 10 people. At our flat $275 an hour with a three-hour minimum, the shortest trip costs $825 for the whole boat, or $82.50 each if 10 of you split it. For a summer Saturday, send the date request two to three weeks ahead.

The short answer

You get the boat, a captain, fuel, a wakesurf board, the gear and a sound system for one flat hourly rate, with no hidden fees. The group size tops out at 10 guests. If your crew is bigger than that, we are the wrong boat, and you should look for a larger party boat or split into two groups.

What a bachelor party boat day costs

The math is simple because the rate is flat. Here is what the boat costs for the most common trip lengths, and what each person pays with a full boat of 10.

Trip length Boat total Each of 10 guests
3 hours (minimum) $825 $82.50
4 hours $1,100 $110
6 hours $1,650 $165

For a bachelor or bachelorette group we usually suggest six hours or a full day, because it leaves time to surf, swim and cruise without watching the clock. If you are splitting costs across a group, here is how to split a private charter fairly.

What is included

  • A captain who drives the boat and runs the surf sessions.
  • Fuel, a wakesurf board and the gear.
  • Bluetooth tower speakers, so bring the playlist.
  • Shaded lounge seating for up to 10 guests on a 2021 Sanger V237 SX.
  • Group photos from the captain while you are out on the water.

Surfing when half the group has never tried it

Most bachelor groups are mixed: a couple of people who have surfed before and several who never have. That works. Wakesurfing happens at slow boat speeds, and the rider lets go of the rope once they find the wave. Nobody has to surf. Plenty of guests spend the trip in the lounge seats or in the water, and the day still works.

Drinks and the captain

BYOB is welcome for guests of legal age. The captain does not drink, so the person driving the boat is always sober. Check what to bring on a Lake Austin charter for the full list.

Timing the day

  • Surfing is a daylight activity. Texas Parks and Wildlife Code 31.103 bars towed water sports from half an hour after sunset until half an hour before sunrise. Plan the surfing early and keep the sunset for cruising. More on the Lake Austin wakesurfing rules.
  • Weekends in surf season go first. Summer Saturdays usually book two to three weeks out.
  • Off-season works too. From November to March the lake is still ridable in a wetsuit or drysuit, and it is a good season for cruising.
  • Weather is covered. If the captain cancels for weather, you get a full refund or a new date. See what happens if it rains.

Read the cancellation policy before you collect money

Bachelor party headcounts change, so know the rules before you split the bill. Cancel 15 or more days out for a full refund. From 14 to 9 days out there is a $100 cancellation fee plus a 10% booking fee. From 8 to 3 days out, 50% of the total is charged, and inside 72 hours the full amount is charged. Reschedules need 15 or more days of notice. The full policy is here.

Book the boat
